Since I started driving a semi truck, I have been told if you get in an accident with a car, most of the time the big truck driver gets the blame for the mistake, no matter whose fault it was.
According to a report by the American Trucking Association, there were 4 different reports of accidents that involved regular licensed drivers and commercial truck drivers.
In one of the studies conducted by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, car drivers and other smaller vehicles were to blame to a whopping 81% of the accidents.
Take a guess which were the majority of the encroaching vehicles? It was the the cars in 89% of head on crashes,
72% of the same direction side swipes, 88% of the opposite direction side swipes, and 80% of the rear end accidents.
I have seen many stupid mistakes by truck drivers, but many more mistakes by a long shot by the car drivers,
I am going to get a dash cam to record some and put the videos on this site, and maybe even You Tube, so people can see the ignorant drivers in action.
The biggest reason for the accidents were “improper following,” “too fast for conditions,” and also “failure to keep in lane.”
The president and CEO of the American Trucking Association, Bill Graves, claims that trucker drivers are blamed much too often for crashes that they couldn’t prevent.
And that is exactly what I have heard was going on for the last 14 years that I have been a commercial drier.
By the way, The American Trucking Association is the biggest national trade association for the truck transportation industry.
Hey you car drivers, stop cutting me off, then brake to get on an off ramp, and making me slam on my brakes, stop texting and swerving all over the road, when you are going slow on an interstate and I go to pass, stop speeding up so I can’t pass, you dipsticks!
